Here are a couple of adorable two-piece patio dress sets from the late 40s/early 50s. The consignor tells me her mother took frequent trips to Mexico and the South West and had dozens of these sets she wore over the years. These are two she didn't wear, so they are in absolutely flawless condition.

Just listed this cutie-pie pair. They're originally nightgowns or loungewear, but rocking them as maxi dresses is copacetic and uber-trendy. I just love the color scheme on these!

What a Difference a Model Makes - White Mini Dress

A little while ago I did a photo shoot with a new model. She's been a friend and customer for quite a while so it was nice to finally work with her. Here she is in a Jessica McClintock 80s dress that I just listed on the site:

The dress was a bit big for her, but I love the photo - she looks so happy! That's how many of the photos turned out. I can't wait to get more items from this shoot listed so I can share the pics with you. Unfortunately for me, she's moving to Seattle so I won't be able to work with her again. So sad!

Jackson Pollock: Techinique is Just a Means of Arriving at a Statement

Today is the birthday of the most famous misunderstood Abstract Expressionist painter, Jackson Pollock. We may have seen the paintings and heard the criticism ("any 4-year-old could make that") but want we can't do is see and feel the impact this movement had on the post-WWII generation. At the time, what Pollock and his contemporaries (Lee Krasner, Willem DeKooning, etc) were creating changed how the world sees art.

What does Jackson Pollock have to do with fashion?
Well, some inspired designer in the mid 50s thought he was enough of an inspiration to create this border print wool dress.

It's the perfect frock to wear to your next gallery opening, no?

It's Kooky Hat Day

At Daisy Fairbanks headquarters, in addition to 1200 square feet that's open to the public and filled with modern and vintage fashion treasures, there is a sizable back room. And by "back room," I mean both "the place where I keep things that are available on the site" and "the place where I keep hundreds of things I have not yet listed on the site," with the latter being greater. One of the things I have many of, sitting in lovely boxes and invisible to the public for no reason other than my own procrastination, is hats. They're not doing anyone any good in boxes, so I'm trying to make a dent in the collection, getting them photographed and listed. Here are just a few recent additions:

It's Official, the '90s are Vintage

Why?
1.) Well, it was almost 20 years ago.
2.) There are some early 90s fashions that, when you see them, you feel compelled to smile, roll your eyes and reminisce.

These teeny-est mini shimmery cocktail dresses have so much 90s flair that we've added a '90s section to our web site. I'll be keeping my eye out for more to fill out the decade as it slips further into the past, day by day. What's your favorite '90s fashion?

3.) The 90s was in a whole 'nother century. Which is fun to say, actually.

New Estate Items - The 20s & 30s

It's not often here at DaisyFairbanks headquarters that we receive items from the early part of the 20th Century. After all, at that period of time the central coast of California was a teensy little up-and-coming resort town known more for its salt water taffy than its place on the fashion radar. Anyhoo, one of the best things about having a brick-and-mortar store is that you just never know what will walk in the front door

A few weeks ago, we were delighted to receive a group of clothing that includes a few of the nicest pieces from the 20s & 30s we've ever seen. Yay Us! There was clothing form at least two generations of women in a family, representing a span of at least 60 years, and all of incredibly high quality. We'll be listing them slowly over the next few weeks.

Red Pleated Dot Dress

This cute dress was just listed on my site. The dots look to me like random confetti shapes.

And I was about to tell you more about this gorgeous black dress, its all-over pintucking, its lace cutwork, but alas, it sold. You've got to be quick around here!
