As the time approaches for us to furnish a new house, I've been daydreaming about the types of things I will be living amongst in the future. I'm looking forward to choosing kitchen towels, bed side tables, baskets for cleaning supplies, and many of the random objects we often take for granted. It's a rare thing to be able to start from scratch. Not that I would have chosen the circumstances. But I am choosing to look at this as an opportunity.
One of the things I sorely miss is my grandmother's 1940's red & white plastic wall clock. It hung in my kitchen, and constantly gave me rushes of memory, as do things like Rose tea, playing cards, acrylic afghans, cigarette smoke, & hard candy. The clock had a red face and white plastic numbers that stood out from the body of the clock. It has been broken and glued several times but still kept time like a champion.
