At my brick-and-mortar store, there's a sweet little rainstorm out the window, and spring clothing is just arriving. My store is a mix of modern consignment and vintage, so lately it's spot-on with the trend toward mixing modern and vintage pieces. And at the moment, my seasons are also mixed. I still have yet to take the wool sweaters and coats off the floor, but need to do it soon as I'm running out of space! I love the change of seasons when I'm getting fresh things in, but I haven't been able to completely let go of the winter just yet. Today I'm in my Friday casual mood, wearing my favorite jeans (Lucky) and t-shirt (Banana Republic) topped by an oversized vintage sweater-coat. Cozy.
Apparently I need a Spring infusion to motivate me. When I'm looking for inspiration, I don't always find what I need in the current runway shows. While I love the creativity on the runway, the clothing doesn't always translate to relevance here in resort-casual California. There is one designer, however, who seems to have my customer in mind - Nanette Lepore. It's nice to see her separates and dresses in my store a year or two later, and they're always a quick sell. Here' s a preview of her Spring '09 collection:
I love the splashes of color floral in peacock blue and coral red on earthly taupe. And it's nice to see a designer who gets creative with knitwear in a Spring look.
