Bonhams & Butterfields, international fine arts auctioneers, is pleased to announce that the February 8-9, 2009 Sunset Estate Auction in Los Angeles will feature a selection of more than 100 antique and vintage textiles and costumes from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), as well as property from the Palm Springs Museum of Art and art and antiques from prominent Southern California estates and private collections.
Items on offer from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art include groupings of collectibles such as: an Edith Head circa 1950s black wool cocktail dress, along with a Ben Reig silk crepe dress and a pair of other garments (est. $300/500); a vintage Geoffrey Beene sequined dress (est. $300/500); and a collection of vintage garments from the personal wardrobe of actress Rosalind Russell, from 1950-60. A selection of ladies shoes, hats, purses and fashion accessories such as fans will be offered, along with selected men's items.
