Picture this: It's 1962. You're an unfulfilled trophy wife, meeting her husband at a restaurant for a rare night out. There's been an unspoken tension in your marriage and you're trying to mend it, even though you're uncertain of its source. No matter the cause, your husband has been distant and distracted lately. Is he unhappy? Has he fallen out of love? Is he (heaven forbid) having an affair? Or is it something deeper or more mysterious, like a hidden identity?
Most importantly, what will you wear?!
Our resident visual stylist, Geneva, re-created one of the looks from Mad Men, using a pale lilac lace dress, vintage aurora borealis crystal necklace & matching earrings, and a brown mouton jacket (we had a black mink jacket but it wasn't quite the right style.) We think it turned out quite well.
Here's the dress (coming soon to www.daisyfairbanks.com:)
And here's the reason Mrs. Don Draper was looking so enraptured:

Oh for me the trophy wife look is an all time staple (though not on ME obviously), along with the Doctors wife, the politicians wife and not forgetting the bride of satan...ok well maybe not that last one, horns are oh-so passe these days and Gareth Pugh totally ruined black PVC for me.
Really nice blog by the way!
